Thriving Through Tough Times: Eight Cross-Cultural Strategies to Navigate Life’s Ordeals by Deidre Combs

Life can dish out some nasty circumstances: we get fired, suddenly lose someone we love or get really ill. Deidre Combs provides eight practical techniques to overcome difficult times by drawing from twenty years of cross-cultural research and consulting. Recognizing that tough times are universally referred to as battles or death and rebirth experiences, she integrates perennial conflict resolution and death/mourning cultural practices into simple approaches to help us reach stability once more. Combs introduces the four key phases of tough times and how to move through each with greater ease and support.

About the Author: Deidre Combs is a nationally recognized consultant and serves as a faculty member at Montana State University. Since 2007 Combs has provided leadership training to US State Department-selected students and professional leaders from throughout the world including the Middle East, Africa and Asia. In 1994, Combs founded Combs and Company and became a credentialed mediator. She has authored two previous books: “The Way of Conflict: Elemental Wisdom for Resolving Disputes and Transcending Differences” in 2004 and “Worst Enemy Best Teacher: How to Survive and Thrive with Opponents, Competitors and the People Who Drive You Crazy” in 2005.
