George Washington Pulls Into Malaysia

PORT KLANG, Malaysia (Oct. 7, 2012) Capt. Greg Fenton, USS George Washington’s (CVN 73) commanding officer, answers questions from local media after arriving in Port Klang, Malaysia. George Washington and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5, provide a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interest of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Asia-Pacific region.

USS George Washington (SSBN-598), the lead ship of her class of nuclear ballistic missile submarines, was the third[4] United States Navy ship of the name, in honor of George Washington (1732–1799), first President of the United States, and the first of that name to be purpose-built as a warship.
